Gaussian blur is a common image convolution operation. Laplacian edge-detection is also a common image convolution operation. Today, I discovered that doing a Gaussian just before the Laplacian (Laplacian of Gaussian) yields a fun neon-sign-looking effect...

Without the Gaussian blur, the Laplacian is a lot more sensitive to noise...

Looks cool, but are their any applications outside ripping off a different logo?  I don't really know what you're talking about, but it looks like you're relying on the lighting used in the Google logo.  How could you create a neon-sign-looking logo with your own design?

Can you give me an example of "your own design"? It'd be interesting to see what this filter'd do to it.
