Is it possible to have a second extra domain?  I want to change domain names and have purchased the new one so I now own both.  I'd like to run both domain names for a few weeks with both pointing at my site and then delete the original one.  I don't want to simply remove the one I'm using now and replace it with the new one.

Only one extra domain to one account.
You can create new account, point the domain there and redirect OR BETTER redirect already at your DNS service.

If your website is already indexed in search engines and have some page rank then this is recommended to use additional "HTTP 301 Moved Permanently" code while redirecting - in this way you'll keep your website indexed etc. only the address will be changed (but it depends how big is your site and how often search engines are visiting you - this can take longer than few weeks to re-index all subpages).

THANKS!!  If I redirect at my DNS service and change my extra domain at 110mb, how fast will the changes propagate -- will it be effective immediately, or will there be a delay of 24-48 hours?

I'm new to the whole forums thing...so please bare with me..

1. I'm new to 110mb. I see this "extra domain" in so many threads. But what is extra domain? I'm sure it was answered somewhere, but I just cant find it. Probably not asking the right questions in the search box.

2. The home page - does 110mb auto detect the home page( index.html/index.php/index.htm)?? Normally, my understanding is we make changes in htaccess. But here, I dont have htaccess enabled.

3. Is there a way to change home page from index.html to say Loadhome.php or something without htaccess?

4. The TOS says 5 accounts --so we can have site1.110mb.com, site2.110mb.com to site5.110mb.com ---is my understanding correct?

Thanks

I did a bit more forum search - my new understanding :
Extra domain is any domain name that we register with a Domain registrar like xyz.com
The files of the site for xyz.com will be at yoursite.110mb.com.
When visitors type xyz.com in their browsers, inorder to get the home page, we need to register xyz.com as the extra domain(go to Account Management and Upgrade option in control pannel). Then the home page from yoursite.110mb.com is sent. (So my first question is answered, correct?..somebody plz ratify)

index.html, index.php and index.htm are detected as default pages. You could also test it by yourself if you have an account.

I don't think so. You can always redirect from index.html (or index.php) to any page of your choice though.

Yes.

@ luvnestadventures

If you are changing nameservers - 24 - 48 hours. (up to 72).
If your nameservers changes are already propagated and you are using A records to point your domain here - faster.

What you can do (just a proposition):
- Set up your new domain at your DNS service, point A records to your 110mb account, wait until changes propagate.
- When your new domain is pointing already to 110mb (to the 404) - change your domain in 110mb CP - the new will work almost instantly.
- And how fast you can manage redirections for old.

@ kaalam

1. If you have own domain name (registered /bought/ at some domain registrar or a free one from services like co.cc, uni.cc etc.) you can point it to the 110mb account and use simultaneously with your .110mb.com and .911mb.com subdomain.
2. Mentioned above index.html/.htm/.php
3. Mentioned above - no. The only way is to create index file and redirect to the other page.
4. Mentioned above. Yes, you can have up to 5 accounts for free. But if on each account you will buy at least one paid upgrade then you can have how many accounts you want. However try to not create unneccessary garbage accounts.
