I found this blog posting on the "PageTraffic Blog" & thought I would share it with y'all -> here

  • I can vouch for No.s 1 & 3.  I use them in my web site
  • I have used No.2 in the past, & prefer No.1
  • I have not used No.s 4 & 5 so I cannot comment upon them

You will have to read the article to see what No.s 1,2,3,4, & 5 are  Wink

I use two.
  • Statcounter - it allows to me monitor almost instantly who has visited the page(s).
  • Google Analytics - data seems to be delayed by several hours.  It is in more detail & allows me to see info in a way & format I find easier to understand.  I do tend to trust this more than the Statcounter.

I also use Google Webmaster Tools, which is a great tool & the one I check twice a day for errors & problems with my site.

Do you use those on the same pages?

I agree with Webmaster Tools, its a brilliant bit of software, and I tend to check it daily. The information there only seems to be updated daily (for my site at least - it might change with popularity) but the amount of data available is unsurpassed. It alerted me to infinite loop errors in my auto-404 correcting system that I hadn't even noticed. Query presence and query clickthrough is also invaluable.

It depends... I don't track all the pages.

I only bother to track pages I want to know this kind of info for.  It changes over time.

The only one that has all 3 (Statcounter, GA, & GWT) in all the time is the home page.

Well I only prefer Google Analytics and it's simple to use and incredible in results. Don't know about the others and I really don't wanna know when I am using market's best free software but I find Crazy Egg really interesting.

I agree. There click-heatmap feature is particularly interesting. I might try it on my site for a bit.
