Box11, Box13, Box14 are backed up every single day.

Other servers do not have backup implemented yet. But we'll order new servers soon to backup remaining boxes also.

Yay Cheesy Only thing I'd ever need a backup for is my users and forums.. I have my entire site on my computer and I develop it there, and all of my current mysql dbs except for the forums/wiki can be easily replaced by a script.

What's the point of this? Not trying to make this sound bad or anthing but won't this *potentially* slow the servers? for some time every week? It means every week, the servers will have to get extra connections to every account, just to send data to a backup server, theoretically slowing things down.

It probably wont all of a sudden dump all files and folders and everything into the backup at one time, it will probably be done slowly and when there is the least amount of traffic. I would think it might be smarter to have the server mirror all the other servers or something so when a file is uploaded, or deleted its also done on the backup server... but that might be worse Wink

It'd most likely be incremental backups, which means a consistent low resource usage.

will the backups be available to users, most likely not. It's kind of a waste of money on your part, sure it's nice to have but it's odd that you're willing to spend it on raid backups. I assume you're also going to do a weekly purge of old backups, otherwise that would be insane to have 2 or even 3 weeks worth of backups stored.

I know about this. And is not prob. at all.

1) Backups run during lowest point of day during least busy traffic day of week (Wed I think it is).
2) Linux has rync, which handles file syncing without putting load on server.

Done.
