See example here: http://bugawuga13.110mb.com

Look in bottom right corner. You'll see a traffic button.

It tells you how many people are on your site at any one time. Or if you click on it, it'll tell you lots of traffic details about your site.

It's ON by default on Box5/11/12/13/14/15.

And OFF by default on Box4/9/16/17+. Totally outside your account. So won't interfere with your files.

Eitherway, you can turn it ON/OFF on your account by: Log In -> Account Profile -> Turn it OFF/ON

Hoping to get some opinions based on this idea.

Have a nice day everyone.  smiley

Looks good.  However, wouldn't it be better "off" by default?

So that only users who want it can activate it?

Yes, "off" by default is better idea.
It still adds the code to yours - javascript outside of </html> tag.

From a user point of view:
If I see this forced on my page AND for some reason I am so blind to not find it in control panel - I would be a little confused what's going on and maybe mad. So off for default is better idea.

From the host owner point of view:
IF you have some money from Radar URL for implementing this - it's up to you, you'll get more for having it on for default, less for off for default.

Please, post quickly when you'll implement it on other boxes so we can turn it off immediately.

Glad I found this post, was begining to think my site/account had been hacked or something. I have turned off, I think if 110mb want to offer widgets they should be off by default.

ps. it doesn't seem to be working very well with wordpress site admin, when i login to my wordpress based blog, the pages loads, then i get a blank white screen...

Seems good, but except for people using the site builder, I doubt anyone would like it on their site. Either way, all features are good features, as long as they're not forced or "persuaded towards", so I say turn it off by default, but keep it as a feature. smiley

btw, when you turn this feature OFF, how long does it take? Is it a 24hr thing, or should it be instant?

I only ask because I turned it off a couple of hours ago, but it's still displaying the little radar widget on my site Sad

I imagine it should happen instantly.  Perhaps you have a cached version of the page?  Did you try the ctrl+F5 trick?

(...)
ps. it doesn't seem to be working very well with wordpress site admin, when i login to my wordpress based blog, the pages loads, then i get a blank white screen...

Wordpress admin panel is heavily supported by ajax, so the Radar URL javascript most probably interfere in some way with this.

BUT... While thinking about Wordpress admin panel I just imagine another thing why this should not be turned ON for default.
How much do you trust completely not known for most of us website radarurl? What actually they collect with their javascript and what they'll do with the data collected from users hidden pages - like admin areas, folders protected from public view etc.?

I know such services like Google Analytics, StatCounter etc. and I can take some risk with that scripts attached to such pages, but as I don't know nothing about RadarURL I most probably don't risk attaching it to my hidden pages. And as this is only on/off, so while on it's not only on my public pages, but everywhere.

edit:
Domain registered 2009-02-07 by Domains by Proxy, Inc.
Exists a month only. Owner of the domain is hiding personal info - why?
Their "terms" link is going nowhere...
I don't trust it at all. I would not use it for stats for my pages.

I'm not saying that this is actually some "bad site", most probably it's 100% OK, but absolutely not known for anyone, so turned OFF for default is best.

I too have turned this off. Nice idea, but it obscured my footer, and also stopped my pages from validating :(

I seconded Piotr GRD.

As it also breaks the w3c valid; something i struggled to get.
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http%3A%2F%2Fbugawuga13.110mb.com%2F&charset=(detect+automatically)&doctype=Inline&group=0
check the last error. the script is actually added after the <html> tags.

Ok very good points. Ok just found out if it's ON, it does place this after </HTML> tag:

==
<script type="text/javascript" src="http://radarurl.com/js/radarurl_widget.js"></script><script type="text/javascript">radarurl_call_radar_widget("Big", "Black","bottomright")</script><noscript><a href="http://radarurl.com/">online stats</a></noscript>
==

Anyway, will get it to be OFF by default.

wow that was a little bad, just noticed it popping up on a few 110mb sites and then I checked my own and noticed it there and was like - hack/intrusion attempt?

Should always be off by default in the future, it'll scare away users and I don't like how it's sticky - it appears over everything.

bug found: problem is that even after you disable it - it's still show on sites that use a domain.

if you access your site using the 110mb.com address - you won't see the stat script if you have it disabled, but if you use a domain attached it still shows it unfortunately regardless of whether you disabled it or not.

Not my case, but indeed I can see that while it's disabled on 110mb subdomains, it's still added on own extra domains.

I thought it was a hack too and was even more offended when I found I currently can't turn it off on my domain.  Please let me know andre or 110mb is working on fixing this for sites using a domain.

BTW, it's not showing up when I viewed my site in IE6.

Yeah it's exactly the same in my case. Be that kind and turn it off!

In the meantime I just want to say 2 years ago this was a free hosting service, with reliable, useful stuff. With time, somehow the characteristics changed heavily.

Ah yes, while this little present radar was on, i have near 300 spams. Thanks for the traffic.

html, css and some JS...

« Reply #19 on: March 11, 2009, 06:03:03 PM »

Wait, so you don't recommand me to have it? It's not a good feature? It's turned off by default, so I should turn it on to see how it is, because it will keep on my extra domain anyway?
