As many may have noted by my sig, we have a little spammer problem. The idiot keeps changing his IP every time I ban or IP range ban. He is insulting people, and now he's started to flood my forums with spam. I need info on how to stop this bullpoop, and who it might be. This is my current .htaccess ban log. deny from 67.159.44.138 deny from 99.224.11.51 deny from 74.63.84.86 deny from 77.243.225. deny from 77.243. deny from 193.200.150.167 deny from 85.195.123.24 deny from 193.200.150.23 deny from 193.200.150.23 deny from 193.200.000. deny from 193.200. deny from 67.220.201.169 deny from 67.220.201. deny from 67.220. deny from 67.159.45.24 deny from 67.159.45. deny from 67.159. deny from 92.237.137.35 deny from 208.99.75.32 deny from 208.43.255.124 deny from 208.53.157.18
The list is growing, but I still can't seem to stop him. I need to know if any way is possible, and who it just might be. I've also banned nearly all proxies, ect.

Just disallow use of the name "secureP1MP". If he tries to use his name, give him a "This service is temporarily unavailable" message. The only problem is, he is probably an active member on this forum.

Yea, but I don't know who would hold a grudge against me or my site. Unless, IT (KAFC) is doing it.

securepimp could be anyone, anywhere, he could even be ... lets not go down there, suspicion could tear us all apart side note: made a post on scambusters link => http://scambusters.110mb.com/index.php?topic=54.0edited due to wrong link

IMO, no, you cannot stop him. There are nearly an infinite amount of proxies out in the world, and even if you think you have banned them all - let me assure you, you have not. On top of that, at least with my ISP and DSL, each time I restart my router I get a brand spankin' new IP address. Yeah. IP bans are pointless, but a good try. "OOop I'm banned. *Restarts router* ... ... *10 seconds later* Spam time again! " you see the general problem, eh?

he will get bored and quit, I'm sure. I don't think there's a way to ban him definitly, if the IP is always changing...

That would also block anyone using www in front of the domain, if I'm right about the way the 110 servers handles things.

you could filter using regular expressions. and for swearing or such with that, place a temp ban on said IP address spamming for example spammer comes and usings f word, either eregi or preg_match match the swear word and places a 15 minute ban on said ip address... when a ban happens record the ip and the time and don't allow any post from that ip for 15 minutes after the recorded time, that'd be easiest way to handle it I'd imagine, either that or you could perm it.... but some people use proxies for legit paranoia purposes, that'd be up to you.. btw use string funtions to make the code case insensitive when comparing i.e for example use strtolower on the string before you compare though eregi is the case insentive version of ereg anyhow

You can stop spamming via disallow guests post anything and he/she must sign up and receive confirmation email from your system or let's think about new ideas which enable anybody post his/her anything on your system. I'm sure that he/she will post useful things for him/her on your system and you are encourage him/her via awards. Let's everybody post their articles on our system. They will make rich-content on our websites

You can ask/email him kindly to stop what he did, maybe he will understand.. If he's cooperative, you could then ask how he did it, to improve your system.

Yea, it seems he wasn't random spammer to me, more likely about personal matter.. so IMO you need to take it personaly (in good way).. maybe if you ask him kindly and he's cooperate then you both will be a friend..

Indeed, he obviously wants something, because he seems to know much about me, and none of my local friends know anything about proxies, so not sure who it might be.
