Beijing 2008 starts at 9:40pm Australian Eastern Standard Time, which is less then six hours away. I'm not big on sport, but I love the Olympics. I really think we (Australia) can win this time. Anyway cheer on your country. - Decorate your desktop with a Bejing 2008 wallpaper (I have). - Get news on Beijing 2008. China are meant to be making huge changes to fix stuff like that in Beijing. They don't want to look bad in front of the rest of the world. It's really an opportunity to show off your country to the rest of the world.

Why? Not because it's China is it? yes with tibet and the fact they're a communist country, the Olympics are partially about freedom, the government isn't giving it's citizens that. They still aren't opening up to media like they were supposed to, they aren't letting up on the tibet and they haven't improved towards their own citizens much. There was a lot that was promised, that wasn't delivered. even the IOC has stated that with hindsite it wouldn't of likely been given to China. I think it was a mistake to hold it in a Communist country in the first place....

Anyway, I think that in order to keep peace around the world, it needs to be held in all countries it can't discriminate for any reason (Well not any reason, but it would have to be a really, really good one).

And, besides introducing copyright, they also changed their economy into market economy.
Well, if you do boycott the Beijing Olympics, then I really don't mind. There are other people who are willing to see it. Everyone in this world has different thoughts; we have to accept that.
@primefalcon: Do you have a reason to be against Communism? Or is it that you've been watching BBC or CNN since you were interested in watching "news"? When you say that China isn't opening up to media, then how do you know if the Western media is reporting Chinese news accurately? (I still have a few more questions, I'll leave them for later. )
I do not intend to flame or offend anyone. If I did, please tell me. If you really want to know, yes, I am a supporter of the Beijing Olympics and I am going to watch the Opening Ceremony in around five hours. Oh, and I agree, nobody/nothing is perfect. Communism nor anything else escapes this rule.

I have to agree with prime on this one. I love the Olympics, but I'm not sure that I will be supporting this time. I don't like communists, and I think everyone should be free to live their lives the way they want to, not under the iron fist of some little person.

And, where do you see the "iron fist" and the "little person"? Do you just don't like Communists just because you don't like them? What do you know of Communists in China, apart from the fact that Amnesty International published a human rights record for every country? BTW, have you lived in China? I do not intend to flame or offend anyone. If I did, please tell me.
(Opening ceremony in 43 minutes)

(Opening ceremony in 43 minutes) You don't have to live somewhere to tell how it's people are treated, if China cares about its people, and cares about human rights, then why did I see a video the other day showing China's military sniping people from Tibet from a mountain? Exactly. Communism isn't the worst idea, but it becomes a problem when the government takes control of the people. I'm not getting into an argument about this.

Which "enemy of China list"? A list with names of "supporters" of free Tibet, they did talk about it in the news a few times yesterday I think that the people will rise against Communists with in 20 years, they had quite high inflation for many years and that has led to a stock bubble that“s are close to burst and a housing bubble as well. Then they will have 200 million pissed off citizens to deal with. I don“t like Communists as well Its a bad idea and very ineffective model as well

Commuism itself is a genius idea, but it never works out because people didn't like being like everyone else (politicians), and they got greedy.

I'm boycotting because I'm too lazy to watch the coverage.
Also I hate China for putting so much lead in poop that I have to try to find the few American or other made products in my store because some consumers are actually informed and refuse to buy lead filled products. Good for them, more work for me. >: (

i am not boycotting, i have nothing against the Chinese, even though they do have one of the worst human rights records in the world, when the olympics comes to your country how would you like it if people boycotted it?
