Hi,

How exacly the data will be restored on box 15 ? All the information reuploaded will be overwritten or the users have the possibility to opt not to have their data restored ?

P.S. I didn't back up my site because of FTP problems and I would like the data stored now overwritten by the old data but I presume that there might be some users who wouldn't like that to happen.

All data for every user will be synced to their accounts. So if you upload now "index.htm" then it will be overwritten by restoration ONLY IF the restoration ALSO has file "index.htm" in it.

You have no choice to opt out. Everything new will be overwritten with old. But files that are not present on old backup will be left intact.

In summary: Have backup of your current account.

I'm a bit confused by this procedure. Are you saying that if I had index.php all I have to do is upload a file called index.php and then it will be reloaded with my old site?

It means:

1. Create your account now, before the files are restored, or you won't get your files back.
2. You can upload files onto your site while waiting for the old files to be restored.
3. The files that are restored will overwrite anything that you upload now, so keep a backup.
4. You don't have to upload anything, you can just wait for the files to be restored.
5. Your files should be restored today or tomorrow.

If you had a backup before the data loss, and you have been updating your site, and the filenames are the same as before, yes, they will be overwritten on restoration. So keep a backup of the updated site as well. Always keep backups.

It is 23rd of September and the files haven't been restored on my website. Has the synchronization not begun yet?

So was I. I was promised I would get my files back. Before and after the crash. 110mb never actually had a backup for any of the servers. My original host never went down once. I was a fool to think that 110mb could have been better than that.

Actually, my other host went down twice. You weren't able to make any edits but the website was still viewable. 1,000,000 websites on that host. 0 things gone wrong.

Maybe one day 110mb will be able to do all the things said on this website: http://www.110mb.com/

With pleasure, I hope you all lose your websites, your boxes have no backups and the backups you keep on your computer to be corrupt Smiley That way you will understand my and 100s of other people's experiences and not just describe your own.

Sorry, you need to be more annoying and write using bigger writing and in caps lock. That might make me tell you again you don't know what its like.

Info about backups at the day 2008-06-24, when box15 was not exists, yet.
It's three months later, then something has been change, maybe.

Yea there's one 8 Terabyte server that backups b11, b13 and (I think) b14.

Others are not, until we get more backup servers.

Eitherway... the fact that host backups... is no excuse the client shouldn't have his/her own backups at least every 1 month.

Guys, this kind of conduct gets us nowhere. Somehow, I get the feeling that this thread is as relevant as the other thread was, and should be treated the same way.
