.. of what version i have installed.

from 1.1.2 to 1.1.5, to smf beta 2 and now down to 1.1.6

on some packages that require file permission changes, i enter the correct login details on the ftp screen and it has never, ever worked - ever.

i'm usually forced to manually ftp in and chmod every single file i can think of to 777 to enable the mod to install.  i'm really stumped at the moment because i'm trying to install a mod which wants FTP access to change some file permissions and i can't work out which file it wants, as everything that i think is relevant is 777

i've looked at the install.xml script and the install.php script and i'm sure i've worked everything out but it's still asking for ftp login information - which as it doesn't work, is obviously an issue Smiley

any ideas gratefully received .. thankyou ..

This is interesting, as my Wordpress setup always gets its FTP operations right when upgrading plugins.

i'm on box 5.  i did get the mod working in the end, but it's something i'd be keen to figure out for the future because it would save all my files being 777 permissions.

the smf 1.1.6 version doesn't seem to like my cookies either - i have to re-enter my login details and password every time i visit the site
