Regarding .MP3, .RAR, .WMA, .WMV, .MOV, .EXE, .CAB, .AVI files:We can't provide these extensions to free members because few bad dudes will treat 110mb as a file host (against our TOS.) Are there plans to enable users to upload / create .htaccess and .htpasswd files? I know .htpasswd will have to be outside the "web accessible folder" but users dont have access to that.

Why not ? just contact support to have the information added to your htaccess file.
And place your .htpasswd file in your root or another folder.

lot's of cms come with premade .htacces for security...
but maybe it's something they are still working on. Lots of file- extensions are still not allowed...

Oh ok... Will be contacting support shortly. Say I wanted to password protect two directories with different usernames and passwords, would they put an htaccess file in each of the folders for me or would it all go on a single htaccess file somewhere else on the server?

.pl and .cgi is for Perl/CGI That won't be on by default. Because that would over-rule PHP's ability to limit who get's sendmail/safe mode off/etc... To get cgi/perl support, proof of Id is needed. |
