Chromium is the daddy of Google's Chrome browser, and there is now a PPA for it so it is easier than ever to install the stuff (or "crack," as the Ubuntu devs like to call bleeding-edge stuff). I'm evaluating it now, and performance far surpasses that of Firefox (as expected). The browser loads within two seconds flat. So if you like Chrome and you like Ubuntu, this may be worth trying: https://edge.launchpad.net/~chromium-daily/+archive/ppa

When I started using it, it didn't even have tabs, then they added tabs but the only way to use them was keyboard shortcuts, now they are fully functional.... Give them time I'm sure they'll get everything working 100% though with being associated with google who knows it may never see the end of beta lol this may be different though since its the open source thing that google are using as a base for chrome

yea its been out for a while but never used it i think ill download it when i go back to Ubuntu (currently testing and learning before moving the operation to Ubuntu *IRC related*) but if it can handle the possibility of having 100+tabs at any given time ill try it out and if runs better then FF ill use it as a prime IB Edit: OOOO 4747

Anyway, I'm gonna download this as soon as I get onto my Ubuntu compy.

Isn't it called "Chrome"? Chromium is an old free linux top scrolling shooter they used to include with Mandrake and Redhat back in the day. I think I'll wait for the beta myself.

No; Chrome is Google's Chromium-based browser.
The chromium project was made to support Chrome. So really, it's the other way around, Chromium is the stripped-down version of Google Chrome that is open source.

Or you could say that Chrome is the beefed-up version of Chromium.

All valid points, but it comes down to google utilizing open source's rapid development model to beef up their browser, smart move
