After months of no problems my FTP has stopped working. I don't know why this has happened but I have changed two things so i don't know if they have effected this.

Firstly, I found I couldn't log into my 110mb account, i thought i had simply forgotten my password but it turns out that my internet security kaspersky had blocked me from doing this. At the time I didn't know so I changed my password, still I couldnt log in. I worked out how to allow the 110mb on kaspersky. I had no problems logging in after that and i changed my password back to what it was originally. I thought nothing more of it. Then, when i wanted to change something on my website I couldn't "put" it on my website using Dreamweaver as i usually do. I went in to to site>manage site when testing the connection it came up with a message (see image).

So I tried using the passive ftp like suggested with the message. This established a connection but when i try the active ftp it still doesnt work. I don't really know what passive ftp is really, can i still upload using this mode?

Please help me sort my ftp issues! (minimal technical jargon please)

Thanks in advance
James

Search ftw...

DO NOT use Dreamweaver for uploading files. It doesn't work through it.

Instead save files onto your HD then upload through File Manager or use this software:

Nice design of your site, here's a quick article to configure dreamweaver FTP

Don't forget to check against Use Passive FTP in this windows :

Manage Sites > Click the tab "Advanced" at the top > Go to "Remote Info" > Check the box below the PW box.

Happy FTPing.
