I have 1 gig, but My PC needs upgrading..

My ram only runs at 533mhz, and my CPU overheats too quikcly (presscot problem) and is only 1 core at 2.93 GHZ
My motherboard has a defective PSU(instable power supply) and my cooling equipment is bad..
, So I will buy better RAM, better CPU, new PSU, and possibly a better motherboard and also better cooling.. I could better just buy a new PC xD

2 GB should be the minimum these days, my bro has 3GB

Pie...?
yeah my pc generally sucks. It used to be good. until the cooling had to go at 100% (makes a hella noise) and still idles at 50 degrees:|
my CPU is simply outdated, my RAM is bad, everything sucks. I'm going to bring it to the repairs for the cooling, they can apply new thermal paste and apply my new RAM and stuff, don't wanna break it xD

It should do - ill check at ASUS now (overclockers sucks at full specs)

Its supports up to 8GB but windows vista 32bit may only use 3GB

Meh - it comes in 2x1GB so...

Quote
4 x DIMM, Max. 8 GB, DDR2 1200*/1066/800/667 ECC,Non-ECC,Un-buffered Memory
Dual Channel memory architecture
*DDR2 1200 is O.C. speed
**Refer to www.asus.com or this user manual for the Memory QVL(Qualified Vendors Lidts).
***When installing total memory of 4GB capacity or more, Windows 32-bit operation system may only recognize less than 3GB. Hence, a total installed memory of less than 3GB is recommended.

PS : lol were having our own little conversation  cheesy

If i recall correctly that's a limitation per version fo vista, I though vista pro DID use all the GB of rams you install.. might be incorrect though.

Brad your a little confused:

That ram is 800Mhz, just because your buying 4GB of it doesn't make it 1600Mhz...

Also 32bit anything supports only up to 4GB of ram throughout the system. So if your buying a video card with its own ram, you have to go with 64 bit or bring down the amount of ram your buying....

Also, if you haven't already, look at motherboards first, not ram....

I have 2gb; it's all I really need. 3gb is all you really need for a 32bit os because windows can't use even all of 4gb unless you go 64bit

My current laptop has 1GB and it flies on KDE4. Keep in mind that pointers in 64-bit systems require twice the memory as on 32-bit systems.

I remember what was a huge difference when I was upgrade from 128MB to 256MB. Grin SDRAM Grin
And then to 768MB... hohoho, what was a great improvement of speed when processing high resolution images. Grin

Currently 1GB DDR400 (960MB for system, and 64MB for integrated video card) - enough for my needs.

I like overlocking. So My PC configuration is CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo 5GHz ( overlock 3GHz up ), RAM: 4Gb L2 Cache: 1600 Kb for 3d games such as Unreal Tournament, Call of Duty and 3d mmorpgs. If not, i will use Quad core for my PC with RAM: 4Gb
