As title says, how do you get over 1000 unique visitors per day?  Duh

I know that by going on the what's hot list (first page) of reddit.com's reddit.com catagory definitly generates you that much traffic, but you don't get that every day.

Find a site related to yours, more popular than yours. Then convince them for a link or ad, perhaps with money. This is how to get REAL, INTERESTED PEOPLE.

I'd tread carefully there since paid links are against the google webmaster guidelines and can get you penalized or removed entirely from their rankings.  Unless the paid link is marked as a nofollow link and is there purely to get you traffic.  Nothing wrong with that - but they don't want people to be able to pay for pagerank.

The best way to get 1000 unique visitors per month though is to have useful enough content to draw the visitors.

Useful.. interesting... fun.....

Any or all of the above lol.

Look for web sites that are like you in some way, reciporical linking works great.... just don't overdo it.

Putting your URL Everywhere is the key, your signature, e-mails, every forum in existance.. lol

look for directories too.

content is king. don't forget that. as long as content is useful to user and unique in some way, you don't have to worry about getting visitors.
try stumbleupon, digg, add your site to directories. sooner or later your site will get the visitors it deserves. but remember, focus more on content
than on marketing.

Throwing signatures around the web really doesn't do a whole lot for traffic as much as it does for search engine positioning IMO.  And paid links are absolutely FINE according to the Google webmaster guidelines so long as they're a rel=nofollow link.  Paid links to attain page rank = bad in googles books.  Paid links for traffic... absolutely fine, or adsense and adwords wouldn't exist.

I agree though that content is King.  If you have good content people will link to it and pass it to their friends.  Sometimes you might want to kickstart that process with a small ongoing budget of paid links though or targeted social media ads.

Well it's hard to get at that point when you are new but believe me by posting some contents on forum and point them to your website can get traffic and especially if you can afford Adwords then you definitely reach at that 1,000 visitors in a short time because I done advertising by many things but these two things help me the most and now I am getting the highest traffic from 110mb.com and second no is Adwords according to my Analytic reports. Right now I know that my website is some kind of bogus because not many people are interested in wallpapers but I am still getting more then my expectations.

I don't have much time to stay on 2 or 3 forum so I am working only on 110mb.com but maybe you can get some time and you could advertise/post on many forum.

I get a couple of hits from 110mb.com daily. Not that I use 110mb for advertisement, because in reality you are not going to gain massive traffic by forum signatures. Links from popular sites do help greatly though. They provide traffic on the day, and contribute to PageRank and other importance metrics. A competition on my site currently receives 500+ uniques daily, because it got into the moneysavingexpert.com competition directory.

In the long run, 1000+ uniques would come from having an amass of content. I know I get about 50 uniques daily from about 20 articles, so 400 or so articles should (hypothetically) give me that many.

Pretty much for signature links in the 110mb forum only my site (which I've pretty much abandoned now) has PR2.

I only get 100-200 hits per day but it has grown steadily since I concentrated on getting listed in as many places as possible.  Yes it takes time and effort but if you put that time in it will repay you handsomely in the long run.

For me, running a motel, that was getting listed in travel search sites such as Kayak, but also Yahoo local and Merchant Circle do generate traffic quite well after you are listed (1-2 weeks) and are generic for all businesses.  For absolute beginners I would recommend concentrating on search sites that complement your business first and only moving into getting listed on generic sites once you start getting hits from your original listings.

One last tip for Yahoo and Google, while keywords are not as important as they once were not having enough or as usually happens too many can really hinder your site listing being found.  My suggestion is have between 10 - 15 keywords that specifically target your type of business and location.  I do know that Google will rate you down if you have over 25 keywords and rate you even lower if the ones you do have are not relevant to your site content!

My strategy is simple, yet best. And as SE's are more after theme-based-content sites, it's the future.

1) Theme based content site: Site that has LOTS OF PAGES. All related to a theme. EG: Blog about X. X can be funny stuff, soccer, Nokia mobiles, C#, iPhone Ringtones, etc...

Notice how it's specific. I didn't say "Mobile ringtones". That's too competitive. Gotta narrow down to the model/brand. That way you'll be infinity times more successful in ranking on 1st page in Google. Then as your traffic picksup (1000+ uniques per day)... you SLOWLY start adding other mobile brands.

That's the key.

YOU START WITH SPECIFIC BRAND DOWN TO LAST MODEL NUMBER. ONLY AFTER YOUR TRAFFIC PICKS UP (FEW MONTHS) - YOU START ADDING OTHER BRANDS.

Most people will never get any traffic because they violate that. They build site that's everything about everything. Every mobile on the planet. Wrong.

And this rule will only get more critical in 2010+.

Anyway...

After you've built your theme based content site, you submit an article from it to major social sites.

Do that with: OnlyWire.com (gotta pay to use them. But #1 at getting job done.)

That's it.

Repeat for each article.

Within 3-4 months, I'm betting my lifetime fortune, you'll have 1000+ unique visitor days. Consider you've been actively promoting it EVERY DAY. Only takes 30 minutes. Also by promoting, I mean including your site signature in RELATED forums.

And providing relevant information to the post. DO NOT hard sell. Don't even mention anything about your signature. Just have the signature there. People will click on it.

Lastly... always include related articles on your site to each other article on your site. This will increase site-stickiness.

Because people nowdays, visit your site to read the article... and they'll never come back... EVER! This is bad for you. And you prevent it by including other related articles. Do whatever possible to keep them as long as you can.

See your log files. If 95% of your visitors are on your site for 10-30 seconds, something is really WRONG with your site. Your job is to take that percentage down to 50% at least.

Last of the last: Many markters will tell you Karma also plays big part in your promotion efforts. I couldn't agree more. Provide quality to the web, and the web will make you self-employed. Spam or waste peoples times for your own beneficial ends, and and you'll never truly make it big long term. So it only pays to be honest and provide value.
