... and holy SMOKE that was fast o.0

So yeah, I guess I'll be keeping it around for when I don't need the power of KDE4. Perhaps I'll even use it with Enlightenment at the same time. Duh

Hm... I'll have to test resource consumption of LXDE vs. Enlightenment someday... They're not quite on par with visual appeal ;p

Hm... I have to say, RAM usage was pretty similar smiley
It's a pretty simple test. Basically, I switched away from the X terminal and captured the output of free in a file.

KDM (baseline):
total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:        903736     307920     595816          0       8796     177252
-/+ buffers/cache:     121872     781864
Swap:      1992052          0    1992052

LXDE:
total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:        903736     331128     572608          0      12044     198040
-/+ buffers/cache:     121044     782692
Swap:      1992052          0    1992052

Enlightenment DR17:
total       used       free     shared    buffers     cached
Mem:        903736     324252     579484          0      10344     192760
-/+ buffers/cache:     121148     782588
Swap:      1992052          0    1992052

LXDE used 25MB above baseline, while E17 used 16MB above baseline. That's a pretty small difference because the baseline itself is so high Duh

Next up... any suggestions on CPU tests?

Enlightenment seems really cool. I might give it a try with Geubuntu.

You don't need to install Geubuntu. This should be good enough: http://timony.com/mickzblog/2008/04/15/e17-on-ubuntu-revisited/
It's way better than spending a couple of hundred MB (and mad battery power) on GNOME/KDE/XFCE =p
