SUMMARY:
MySQL is going to get limited on box4/5/9/10. To get rid of those who don't contribute anything. Also because as the host becomes larger, so does the demand upon it's resources. Hence this decision. Only way to enable MYSQL is to EITHER:
1) pay small one time fee (http://www.110mb.com/upgrade-free-plan.php) OR 2) Get 50 forum posts for free activation. (no 1-liners please, and only helpful posts or threads because WE ARE DEFINITELY NOT ASKING FOR SPAM OR JUNK.) #2 IS NOT LONGER VALID FROM 2 AUGUST.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
New OFFICIAL SOLUTION Is located here.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Added by DarkRaito: The new policy says that your MySQL will is disabled. It means that your MySQL is disable NOT deleted/removed. It is still there floating around the server, just inaccessible. - Your data will be saved forever. Meaning that you can enable you MySQL later on without any data deleted.

Also, a lot of Box4/5/9/10 members already have the required number of posts. Lots of people are going to be requesting MySQL as soon as this spec is rolled out.

@MonkeyButt: I think you have to tell the Admins on which your accounts you want to enable this.
I am afraid about a time delay to enable MySQL for all required users just after you disable it and you will got lots of support tickets from the old users who already have 50+ useful posts and have a working MySQL scripts.
*** I hope you'll provide a date and time when it will be turned off and individually on again.

WOW! Love the benefits! Also to compensate for trouble of doing this to fellow existing members, you'll (considering you follow 1 or 2 above) get:
>> Free .htaccess file support. >> 2 more MySQL databases and DB usernames. So 3 in total. >> Increase of bandwidth and disk space.

I'm lucky not to be using the mysql yet for anything live/crucial that involves other people beside me & myself, but it will be ugly for active forums and other database-powered communities if they have to wait a month or so before they can be up again. Also, will the content of existing databases be kept, or have we better hurry making backups before they're down ?

Just to note some people, this does not necessarily mean that you will not be able to use a forum script on 110mb. You can always get free remote mysql databases!

Well my entire site uses SQL so I need this. >_< Good thing I'm active here. I don't want any of the other things though, just one database is enough, I don't need more space and I have no clue what to do with .htaccess.

.htaccess and MySQL are very important. I'm willing to pay but it should be enabled within 24 hours after the payment has been received. They're not like Sendmail or Register_Globals that can wait for weeks without major setbacks on a site.
