Before I enter in panic, it would be nice to know what the restrictions would be. I'm running a blog here on 110mb since september 2006, and altought I check the forums regularly, this will be my 17th post. So, I want to know if my blog script, which uses MySQL to store the entries, will run after this policy goes live, it will be crippled or not run at all.
I must say that, when I have a problem or doubt I use the search facility first, and with such an active and huge comunity, most issues and doubts have been discussed before several times. As a noob on PHP/MySQL coding, but experienced coder in general, there is little I can offer to the community with so many more experienced users and coders than myself.
Therefore, as there is little opportunity for people like me to increase my post count in a legit way, it seems it's time to make that looong delayed post on the 'Let us see your Website' forum...

So, I want to know if my blog script, which uses MySQL to store the entries, will run after this policy goes live, it will be crippled or not run at all. It will not run at all, any call to the database will return an error. Unless they implement some softer hourly queries limit as was initially planned for box11, but it looks like they're going to disable mysql entirely on previous boxes too, before reallowing it on individual account basis by request. Don't worry about getting adequate postcount in time though I think, there's a good number of questions you should be able to answer if you have some knowledge of html, css, ftp programs, using some of the popular scripts even if you can't mod them yourself, maybe image editing, etc... The real worry I think is how they'll manage to get everyone validated within a reasonable timeframe when everybody gets the green light to mail them. Given typical delays to get, say, fsockopen activated, even if they started validating people who already have 50+ good posts right now I'd fear there'd be nasty downtime.

Hm, I have no problem with this whatsoever, It's a good incentive for me to become more active here(like I should have been in the first place). This is a win/win situation anyway, in addition to keeping MySQL active, I get htaccess, more databases, and more bandwidth and space.

the cp 2 is nice but i see it still incomplete with some pb : 1-when i click instal application i get eoori page 2-dbmanager there is a big pb: Databases of +-20MB is size would not export. so do you advice us to backup with mysqldumper ( support multipart bakcup) 3-for stat we hoped to have one integrated with box but we still have histat.com ... 4-for htacces i see it on payed service but is it any alternative for ppl with more than 50 post !! 5-i think active ppl are not only the one having more than 50 post we must find another sytsem like 'site visit' or somthing else
ps:i think 3 db is more than we need for the moment i think 2 db/ person is nice and also 2 go / person is also nice so why increasing for some and closing for other why not dvising the 3rd one for ppl without post !!!

Highly recommended! Get this activated and you can: Have your own custom 404 error pages, Use mod_rewrite, Create search engine friendly links, Password protect your folders/files, and tons more benefits that .htaccess files gives you. Isn't mod_rewrite already enabled? Yeah, but you need .htaccess to configure it. But doesn't everybody have a default .htaccess that enables mod_rewrite whether we can edit it or not?

This is very cool. Good work. I'm on holidays in 31st july and I won't have computer on my holidays so can I send my e-mail earlier or anything like this? It's just because I think it will have a big number of people requesting for this and if I only request after my holidays I will ned to wait days/weeks :-P ps:i think 3 db is more than we need for the moment i think 2 db/ person is nice and also 2 go / person is also nice so why increasing for some and closing for other why not dvising the 3rd one for ppl without post !!! Yes it's a little quite exagerated but it's the compensation that 110mb give. I think make 50 posts isn't so hard. Just answer the questions of people and you'll get 50 posts very fast. And this thing of posts I think is to try take out people from using 110mb as a file hoster and/or to don't waste MySQL databases in people that just use a quite small MySQL queries to them functions.

.htaccess will allow you to create custom 404(error pages like 110mb.com/404.php), password protect directories and much more! :-P And yeah the reason there doing this is to make the servers go much, much faster(Hopefully) with less problems. There trying to make there service better by the day Now I have a question. Wont it like take months to fulfill everyones request for getting MySQL Unlocked and then you guys have to enable .htaccess and add more DBs and stuff. Or are you making something or have something where you just put the users on a list and it does automatically?

Yeah. I think you should be able to apply now at least. but that might make it harder with disabling it on some when other dont need it even though itd have to be re enabled on some and maybe just make it harder on them

It will run exactly the same, with no changes or any errors at all. Although it'll run much faster obviously as MySQL on your server will be shut down except for those that do 1 OR 2 as covered in first post.

Lol the thing is, is this hasnt been put into action yet so it is your forums that are doing that. You should go ask on the technical Questions not here :-P If so many people are going to get .htaccess support enabled then how is 110mb gonna support themselves???

There are many new policies rolling out these days, which drives me crazy. But I hope that these new things can reli help to smooth things out.

I think that the real problem here is the unknown... As a great free hosting site I do not have any complain about the new rules, but I believe that everything should be in order and planned ahead. I'm not an expert but "my" best way to do it smooth, is by adding an optional "forum username" rubric into the panel.

Well, here goes bla bla bla about this MYSQL limitation on three pages but I can not find one simple, important info: what limited means? Is MYSQL usage limited on 100 queries per hour as on box11? Or we do not have access to MYSQL at all?

This wouldnt apply to you if your on box11. Only the older boxes below the number 11 :-P and MySQL doesnt work on a box11 account unless you pay or post.(Once enabled no limit) So if your site is on box11 morskipas you have nothing to worry about
