Hi, is there anyway to display embedded math equations (on Wordpress)? I have tried using the wpmathpub plugin but wouldnt work since imagettfbbox() is not enabled. LaTeX doesn't seem to be installed either. Is there any other way to get math equations?
Many thanks

Cheers fill, but really, since I plan to do so much maths equations on the fly, I'm really looking for a more flexible solution. I'm also going to need the option of being able to easily edit and change equations and also to let other users create equations too. So do you have anything else in mind?
Many thanks

Keep in mind that LaTeX support requires exec privileges, and we cannot allow that for security reasons. I'd encourage you to either perform the rendering on your own computer or find a different method.

Thanks o҉rtb, but in terms of finding a different method, the wpmathpub plugin would be fine so long as imagettfbbox() was enabled - could 110mb get this enabled - it really is useful and I don't see this as much of a security threat. I mean, glz makes a very persuasive point having already talked about enabling this before: http://www.110mb.com/forum/fatal-error-call-to-undefined-function-imagettfbbox-t10064.0.html, but the subject seems to have been dropped. Do you reckon you could get it enabled this time round? Many thanks

I wouldn't want to rain on your parade or anything but if you look at http://www.110mb.com/forum/newest-features-added-to-110mb-b1.0/ you'll see it has been quite some time since anything new was added.

robleyd: you'll see it has been quite some time since anything new was added. Come on admins let's stop ducking the issue - this is just embarrassing. I've been happily recommending 110mb for years but this inertia to get anything done or plain laziness to enact any change is really souring my experience. Plus it's not as if people haven't asked, nay begged and campaigned, for this feature before (again falling upon deaf admin ears): http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t7599.0.html;msg55504#msg55504Quoting andre: Honestly, I'll place lowest priority on latex -- at least until a few more members request it Well andre, just through a keyword search of "LaTeX" I've managed to turf up "a few more" members requesting the feature: mattman059: http://www.110mb.com/forum/mathematical-additions-t36092.0.html;msg307079#msg307079 Mathematiskop: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t3072.0.html;msg18984#msg18984 jjrohal: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t3072.0.html;msg20586#msg20586 wt8008: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t3072.0.html;msg30589#msg30589 Juanlu_001: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t38501.0.html;msg329018#msg329018 physicshelp4u: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t31850.0.html;msg267045#msg267045 punbb: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t7599.0.html;msg51525#msg51525 sea-stud: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t7599.0.html;msg53229#msg53229 pupil: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t7599.0.html;msg53470#msg53470 pslorenz: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t7599.0.html;msg55517#msg55517 mr-math: http://www.110mb.com/forum/embedding-equations-t25233.0.html;msg201253#msg201253From the following posts: http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-t38501.0.html http://www.110mb.com/forum/latex-renderer-t617.0.html http://www.110mb.com/forum/empty-t3072.0.html http://www.110mb.com/forum/empty-t36092.0.html http://www.110mb.com/forum/empty-t31850.0.html http://www.110mb.com/forum/empty-t7599.0.html http://www.110mb.com/forum/empty-t25233.0.htmlNow, I don't see why it takes a time-wasting quasi-petition to prevent me from being ignored - why can't this be achieved at 110mb by asking nicely? From what I've witnessed through the above posts I'm not the only one being ignored either - even the most vocal members have been silenced by being consistently ignored for so long. And the times the admins have responded it has been invariably negative, spouting a string of excuses not to do or change something. Why not be more positive and do the best to give it a try at least? I'm not trying to blame or intentionally have a go a people but simply pointing out that this currently pervading do-little culture hanging around here should and must go, even quite simply for 110mb's own good if it to compete for new users in the future. I'm sorry if I sound irritated and exasperated but that's because I am, and I've tried to give as constructive a criticism as I can. Hopefully this prompt can change the LaTeX situation here for the better. I hope I won't have to waste everybody's time with something like this again, but all the same and as stubborn as it may sound, I really don't plan to let this one go. Many thanks for all your help and patience

PS - I only included mr-math's posts in there to demonstrate that their would be a lot of potential for LaTeX. Above the people who have explicitly asked for LaTeX, there are many more who would find LaTeX to be of good use and value if they'd known about it first - a good investment for the future. So the demand is really there, be it visible or hidden ("receptivity" as Peter Drucker had called it). More people would start using LaTeX if only it were installed, and I'm sure that there are many others out there who have not expressed their views and are simply living with a lack of LaTeX as an annoyance, though it doesn't have to be. To be truthful I nearly switched from 110mb once I found out that there was no LaTeX, and even more worryingly, no signs of having LaTeX either, but stayed out of loyalty since 110mb has served me well so far.
I hope that I'll be able to say this in the time to come too.
Many thanks once again

Just a few observations: You've broken a few rules. 1. Double posting. You did this at least twice. 2. (Ethical Rule) You have been given a explicit reason why LaTeX will not be added. This is due to it needing Exec privelages. Since they cant give out Exec privilages, one can safely assume there will be no LaTeX. Note: You do know that this is a free host, right? So "Politely Demanding" (My Interp) is not going to get much done. This isnt like India nearly 80(?) years ago, where nonviolence get you somewhere. Here, its either be good, or get banned. I am sure you DO have the best intentions, but take a look at these quotes: Come on admins let's stop ducking the issue - this is just embarrassing. I've been happily recommending 110mb for years but this inertia to get anything done or plain laziness to enact any change is really souring my experience. Plus it's not as if people haven't asked, nay begged and campaigned, for this feature before (again falling upon deaf admin ears):
I really don't plan to let this one go
I'm also going to need the option of being able to
I know that you are going to become a active member of the 110MB forum. But can we start out on a good note? Thanks Stereofreak69

Thanks Stereofreak69 - I do apologize for those comments and breaking the rules - I hope I have not caused anybody to take offence to my comments - I guess I was just feeling unnecessarily irritable. There's really nothing more important to me than starting out on a good note, so, my apologies once again.
As for the LaTeX issue, is there no workaround other than creating, uploading and embedding your own images from scratch (which I hope you'll admit is a tedious affair if we're talking about several hundred equations)? I've seen a few posts touch upon MathML - is that available here? I know that the MathML syntax is tedious itself but really, I'm pretty desperate for the flexibility of being able to change equations on the fly - which isn't possible with embedding images.
Any suggestions?
Many thanks

other than what has already been stated, the only suggestion i can provide is to make youir own math class.
construct your own images and use php to parse the equasions, then base the image/page output on said.
that is as close as you are going to get here if you want the on-the-fly dynamics you mentioned.
it's obvious from your attitude and posts that the 110mb.com service does not provide you with the fucntionality you desire. That said you would probably be better off purchasing web space from a reputable paid hosting service that offers you the fucntionality you DO desire.

cheers, I see your point, but not to be too nit picky, I've already paid for lots of extra features and everything else is working great, so it doesn't make sense to switch unless there's truly no other option - surely with so much competing technology about a workaround exists?
many thanks
