This is my first time with creating a website. Would like any suggestions on how it may be improved. Also, does anyone know why I can't find it on search engines. What am I suppose to do to fix that. My mega tags keywords, etc. are all filled in but google can't find the robot.txt. I don't know what that is or how to correct it. Huh?? URL: www.sheribukkila.110mb.com

you will not get put into search engines immediately. put the website URL in your sig in these forums, post a lot, and youll get indexed a little better (spiders crawling these popular forums will go to your site from here).

meta data will sometimes ruin your indexing capability if you don't do it exactly right.

it takes a while to get indexed, just wait. some pages might show up before others. its just how it works.

anyways your site now,
i would go over your posts. pages looked good by glancing through. BUT your posts for your news?? need some work. in a political site (city council = politics to me, some may disagree) i would like more information. for example

Quote
I am assigned to a security detail as a Deputy Sheriff in the metro area for the Republican National Convention.

that is pretty short and to the point. i would go more along the lines of something like...

Quote
I've been assigned to be a part of the security detail as Deputy Sheriff in the metropolitan area for the Republican National Convention. ... blah blah blah

that would just be the opening line, go into detail. post your feelings about it, say what you think, how you feel, what your thoughts are, what it means to you. this website is for people to get into your head and see what you think. not see what youve been assigned to do. say how happy you are to be able to serve your community.

thats my two cents.

Thanks so much for your input. I'm venturing in new territory with the web page. I like your ideas. I better get to work on it then! smiley

Google idexing can take months - if you join Google Webmaster Tool then it can be faster.

also suggest getting a domain name (SheriBukkila.name or SheriBukkila.com). this will make the site look more professional.

Very nice, I love the layout. Did you make it or get it from somewhere?
