define('DB_NAME', 'xxxxx_db');    // The name of the database

should this just be 'db' or 'wp' (the original entry was less than five chars) or should it be nameofdomain_db or _wp

define('DB_USER', 'xxxxxxx_db');     // Your MySQL username
define('DB_PASSWORD', 'xxxxx'); // ...and password

define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');    // 99% chance you won't need to change this value

The moderator on the WordPress forum said that he doesn't believe that 'local host' is correct anymore.

Is it? And if not what is it now?

thanks,

Mike

localhost IS correct.

About the other settings, that sould be defined by you in the database creation.

1) - Have you got MySQL enabled on your 110mb's account?
2) - Have you actually created a database on your account, on the admin panel?

what I've done so far is to register a domain, point it to the 110mb dns
pay for and have my sql intalled and it's working.
add a database name = wp - username and password   // wp = wordpress
uploaded wp via ftp
and if I go to the database manager I see my database in the drop down box

but I'm not sure what to do next to get WordPress up and running.

thanks for the reply

Mike
Problem solved but 110mb need to supply a roadmap when they sell services.

The set up is easy when you know what you have to do.

thanks for all the help,

Mike

Sorry, but it's impossible to write tutorials for everyone as everyone has a different plan. Here, we bring our own roadmaps wink
