Have you purchased the MySQL upgrade and had it activated?  If so in your control panel you should have , click that and you'll be able to add a database user and create a database.

Hi code white. Thanks for your reply. I have really got myself messed up on this, stupid me. Yes I purchased my sql backup upgrade, as well as HT access support upgrade. I created database, but somehow that went wrong, so I created second database, which seemed to be going ok. I got to wordpress admin page. It gave me my user name and password, and said to login, I did that, and since then I get a blank page. I have played around with a few other things in 110mb control panel but don't know what I'm doing to be honest, I've also read posts in this forum, and 'how to's', but I'm just not getting anywhere. I need to upload my existing database from my old host, I have no idea how to do it. Perhaps I shouldn't have created new one, I don't know. Can you advise where I upload (restore) my existing database please?

If you want to start from the beginning...

Create freshly new and empty database and database user in 110mb Control Pnael, assign all priviledges.
Install fresh copy of Wordpress.
Install 110DBManager (link inside of 110mb CP at the top of page where you are managing MySQL) or PHPMyAdmin (search in Google) or any other MySQL Manager and using it import your backup of database into the same database of freshly installed Wordpress.

If Wordpress have inbuilt and reliable "import database" tool, you can use it instead of mentioned above MySQL managers. (I don't know as I was never use Wordpress).

The above will be most easy for you.
More advanced users can just download/upload files, import database and (the advanced part) manually change Wordpress config files to fit new server.

What you additionally keep in mind:
- did you assign your domain name to 110mb account before upgrading with .htaccess or after? If after, then send support ticket to use .htaccess on new domain name. If before - it's should already work for you.

To add to what Piotr GRD already said...

If you are seeing a blank display when you go to your page and have wordpress installed it is because something is wrong in your config file.

Thanks both for your replies, I have done everything you mentioned, however, code white has rung a bell with what you say about config file. I changed it before I uploaded it, to reflect my newly created 110mb database user name and password, but maybe there is more needs changing, I'll take another look. Thanks.

Once again thanks for all your help. I managed to upload my database, or at least I think I did. It didn't confirm upload, but neither did it give me any error message. I do find this all very confusing. I like to see either error message or confirmation messages so I know whats what. It went through the process, and I see tables there, so I assume it uploaded, however, I still see blank page.

I checked wp-config file, I think its correct, if it should be stating the host as 'local host'? Then the rest seems correct.

I also notice that my extra domain is diverting to to my 110mb.com username page, which is also blank. I did set the 'A' record in my domain manager, so is it possible that it hasn't propogated fully yet?  I thought it had, because when I typed in my www.domain ealier today, I could see the default 110mb index page.

I didn't notice the last part of the reply from Piotr as it was in tiny font, it said; What you additionally keep in mind:
- did you assign your domain name to 110mb account before upgrading with .htaccess or after? If after, then send support ticket to use .htaccess on new domain name. If before - it's should already work for you

In respect of that, I cannot remember which I did first, if I upgraded or added extra domain first, so it is probably best to send support ticket to them, however, I was reluctant to do so due to the message they give in the cpanel, that says 'DON'T BOTHER REQUESTING IF HTACCESS FUNCTIONS ALREADY WORK ON YOUR EXTRA DOMAIN'. As I am unsure what the problem is here, I am afraid to send support request, as that message seems a little hostile.

I also cannot login to Wordpress. It earlier gave me my user name and password, which I immediately saved, however when I try to login using them, it keeps taking me back to the login page, when I requested password reminder, it gives me this message; The e-mail could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function...

Does anyone have any other thoughts on this before I send a ticket in for HT Access support please?

Many thanks

Can you provide the content of your wp-config file?
Of course edit all sensitive informations like password to database.
And we will try to figure out what is wrong in it, why you have blank page for wordpress.

As for .htaccess - it's easy to check later is it working on your domain name or not.

As for your domain name - all DNS records looks OK for me.
It is redirected to 110mb subdomain because of Wordpress settings, I believe. Don't worry, easy to correct when Wordpress will work.

Thanks everyone for help, I'm really not good at this sort of stuff  huh

Any help appreciated. Here's a copy in full of the contents of my wp-config file;

<?php
// ** MySQL settings ** //
define('DB_NAME', 'starlightblog_db');    // The name of the database
define('DB_USER', 'xxxxxxxxx');     // Your MySQL username
define('DB_PASSWORD', 'xxxxxxx'); // ...and password
define('DB_HOST', 'localhost');    // 99% chance you won't need to change this value
define('DB_CHARSET', 'utf8');
define('DB_COLLATE', '');

// Change each KEY to a different unique phrase.  You won't have to remember the phrases later,
// so make them long and complicated.  You can visit http://api.wordpress.org/secret-key/1.1/
// to get keys generated for you, or just make something up.  Each key should have a different phrase.
define('AUTH_KEY', 'put your unique phrase here'); // Change this to a unique phrase.
define('SECURE_AUTH_KEY', 'put your unique phrase here'); // Change this to a unique phrase.
define('LOGGED_IN_KEY', 'put your unique phrase here'); // Change this to a unique phrase.

// You can have multiple installations in one database if you give each a unique prefix
$table_prefix  = 'wp_';   // Only numbers, letters, and underscores please!

// Change this to localize WordPress.  A corresponding MO file for the
// chosen language must be installed to wp-content/languages.
// For example, install de.mo to wp-content/languages and set WPLANG to 'de'
// to enable German language support.
define ('WPLANG', '');

/* That's all, stop editing! Happy blogging. */

if ( !defined('ABSPATH') )
   define('ABSPATH', dirname(__FILE__) . '/');
require_once(ABSPATH . 'wp-settings.php');
?>

Everything looks fine as far as I can see, however make sure that you have a database user with the appropriate privileges assigned to it.

The username will be something like starlightblog_user

Why did god make me so stupid!!!?

Yes, I have the username created and priviledges assigned, however, I stupidly decided to download from my 110mb account the database backup that I had just uploaded, then I deleted it from my account, and tried to upload it again (please don't ask me why, I don't know why I did that), but now I'm getting an error, maybe this is a good thing, cos at least I can see that something is wrong, however, it means nothing to me and I don't know how to fix it. If anyone can understand and help me with this please I'd appreciate it, thanks, and sorry for my stupidity, just born that way I guess  undecided

Hi, I still can't get my site up and running. Would appreciate any help as I don't really understand too well. It is now pointing to my extra domain (www.) so that part is resolved, and I can now login to the wordpress admin, so I'm getting there. My remaining problem is still uploading my existing database for my domain that was transferred to hosting here.

I have done some research, and it seems that 110dbmanager is using mysql server version 3.7, which is much older than the version my previous host was using, hence the problems when trying to upload mysql database.

I really don't understand what I have to change. Please can someone help me with this? The error I am currently getting when trying to import my database is this (there will likely be more after this one I have a feeling);

Processing file: wrdp1.sql

Starting from line: 1

Error at the line 7: /*!40101 SET @OLD_CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT=@@CHARACTER_SET_CLIENT */;

This is 110DBManager v.3.7
And on 110mb is installed MySQL in version 5.0.27  (5.0.67 is the most new stable version, so I doubt that it is so much older than on other host)

Your problem is:
"" at the beginning of the file.

I can be wrong with below:
This is the most common problem when you file is encoded in UTF-8.
I don't know what is the behaviour of 110dbManager with this. If you will not be able to convert the encoding of your .sql file then try to install PHPMyAdmin or other script that will be comfortable for you and will handle UTF-8 encoding in .sql file.

Thanks once again Piotr GDR, You've been a great help to me. I never anticipated a transfer being so complicated. I have downloaded PhpMyAdmin, but there's a lot of reading to do, and its bedtime for me now, so I'll have to leave my site down for another day and try this tomorrow night.

Thank you for being so able and willing to help  rolleyes

Hi, I'm back again seeking more help / advice please.

I believe I successfully uploaded my backup database at last. At least I got a message saying it was a success. The problem now is possible the htaccess problem that was mentioned earlier, but I'm still not sure. I think it was piotr who said that could easily be checked, but I don't know how. Perhaps if your around piotr and wouldn't mind assisting me yet again?

To update, both my 110mb account and my extra domain now won't show since uploading the backup database, however, there is no error message. My start page is google, I type in the url, and it tries and tries to go there, I left if for 10 minutes but gave up, and my google start page doesn't change. There is internet activity, it says connecting, but it never gets there, I also cannot log into my wordpress admin page (telling me inocorrect user name), but I think I'm using the correct one. As well as that, I now cannot log back into 110dbmanager, it gives me this error message; Cannot connect to the database because: Access denied for user 'vhostswww'@'localhost' (using password: NO).

So, is this the time when I send an email to htaccess support?

Your wordpress... the URL of it inside of WP control panel... is it WITH www?
If you can change it, change it into your domain name without www.

Wordpress is set up to force the configured URL - www.yourdomain.com
It's checking the HTTP_HOST or SERVER_NAME values. Usually those variables contains the whole domain name, but not on 110mb, on 110mb those values never contain the www. part. So Wordpress thinking that is accessed trough yourdomain.com without www, it's redirecting to www.yourdomain.com, but again thinking that it is without and redireting again and again in never ending loop...

Thanks for fast response. Yes I think it is www. I understand what you are saying, my problem now is where to change it as I cannot access my wp-admin. I would need to change it in the files and upload via ftp, however where would I change that setting, any ideas please?

According to what I found here, you need to open up the database and change the value of "home" to your site without the www, look in the table "wp_options".

You should be able to get into either 110dbmanager or whatever db manager you are using by going directly to it.  ie, http://yoursite.com/somefolder/110dbmanager.php

I can't use 110dbmanager any more, it logs me in, but as soon as I try any action it logs me out again and keeps giving the same message as I mentioned in previous post. I used the phpmyadmin 'try' online version to change the home page in wp-options, saved that, backed it up as gzip to my hard drive, and now I've unzipped it. So I have the amended database sql file, but I don't know how to get it back   sad

Can it be done via ftp do you think? I've searched on my ftp but cannot find where to upload it to.
I'm searching google too for the answers, its just that I'm worn out with this now, 2 weeks my site has been down, and I'm tired  cry But I do appreciate your help, many thanks.
