Hey guys, I've just read about it on the news. http://www.opera.com/browser/next/It seems pretty cool. has anyone tried it yet? EDIT: ok, here are my first impressions: I've noticed a great JavaScript speed improvement. GMail and other heavily-ajaxified websites now work as a charm. yahoo.com doesn't recognize it yet. Font rendering has improved as well. They added inline spelling check (finally!) It passes the acid3 testOverall, it's a pretty clean and stable build.

Ooh... nice standards compliance. Looks interesting; I guess I'll be giving it a try sometime.

This seems to be great, so if I ever will find a way to strip all obsolete features of Opera, I'll use it! (Too much unneeded features for me is the main reason why I don't use it. )

Opera's JS speeds are still distinctively slower than the competition.
V8 Benchmark (not the most accurate, higher = better) Chrome: 1987 Webkit: 2492 Opera: 142 TraceMonkey: 104 (SLOW!)
Sunspider (lower = better) Webkit: 1438.4ms TraceMonkey: 2109.6ms Opera: 4624.4ms Chrome: 1847.4ms

considering 1k microseconds = 1 second and we have a difference of up to 3 seconds response time, I think that would actually be noticeable

A millisecond is a thousandth of a second so 1000 milliseconds equals a second so 3k ms is a 3 second difference.
Yes microtime and microseconds are different things, I got those mixed up, your right the microtime that browsers use are milliseconds for timing purposes.
