hi, i'll write a little tutorial on how to optimize you site for search engines. (my english sux so be prepared)
first you need to chose the keywords for wich you want to optimize, eg. games (or lets pick an easier one wink)

once you chose the keywords there are some things you can do to improve your position in the results of google, yahoo and MSN for that keyword.

1:: try to include it in the URL and in the title
Code:
<h1>title</h1> and <h2>subtitle</h2> up to <h6>the less relevant title</h6>
2:: include it in the description tag, the keywords tag and the title tag
3:: use it in the alt tag of the 3 first images (as they appear in the code)
4:: the first text that the search engine see should be the keywords (always check the code to see the order, or you can use lynx or check the delorie.com tool that emulates lynx)
5:: the keywords should be in the begining of each parragraph
6:: use the keywords in the name of your files and in the name of the folders (use "-" search engines dont-break-words)
7:: highlight the keywords by using "bold" and "underline".
8:: makesure of including keywords in the links that adress to your main page.
9:: build a sitemap adn send it to google here http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools
10:: have a clean source code, you should use css to shape your site, and avoid javascript and flash

exchanging links

1:: chose sites that are related to yours
2:: chose keywords as text for your links
3:: try to get high PR sites linking you
4:: try to make non reciprocal link exchange your_site1 links someones_site2 and someones_site1 links your_site2 that kind of links work better
5:: try to get listed in dmoz.org its a VID (very important directory grin)

i hope its usefull
