Is it possible to log incoming pings? Lets say someone, somewhere in the world would use "ping stevediraddo.com". Is it possible to detect this?

On your own server when you have root access - yes.
On shared host like here - no. And... What's for? I know that on private computers some persons are monitoring this, but on server... I don't see a reason.

I had a weird idea for a phonehome script so my site can silently track my laptops if they gets stolen. I'll just use the php method I already made.. thanks for the info tho Smiley

It's already been done; it's called Adeona and it runs on OpenDHT.
