I'd go for the T8100/Penryn. It's faster, more efficient, and has 128kb of L1 cache while the other has 64kb.

Trust me, don't get TrueLife unless you will only use the computer in the basement.
TrueLife = painful glare. The light behind you flashes off your computer into your eyes.

About the processor, I suggest you just stick with the cheaper one unless you are doing some crazy processing every day and want to throw some money away to get 5% (just a guess) faster processing.

It's a laptop. As with all laptops, battery life is critical. If you could get more performance for less power consumption, I'd recommend spending an extra few bucks. Sometimes you just need that extra bit of juice, so it'd make your experience a lot smoother. If you're planning to use it as a desktop, then it'd be different.

HEREZ THE ONE WHICH I HAVE FINALLY ORDERED(ALMOST)

T 5800, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HDD

Since i am paying by bankers draft, it will take time to reach them by snail mail,

before that i can change the TRUELITE OPTION . It costs the same whether i include truelite or not.

I am in a BIG DILEMMA about truelite. some say that its wonderful for moviewatching. Some say that the glare can be easily overcome by increasing brightness. is it so???

My Toshiba has a truebrite screen. Neither a matte nor truebrite screen would work very well in direct sunlight -- matte would reflect light diffusely, distributing the glare all over; truebrite would reflect spectrally, making the image difficult to see. You can turn up the brightness, but there's always a limit; you can't compete against direct sunlight, of course. And no, that doesn't do anything about the reflection itself. Truebrite is indeed very nice for video-playing since its smooth texture doesn't interfere much with the image. The matte screen is super-annoying when it comes to dust management.

Here's a hint: if you're out in the sun, enjoy yourself... leave your computer at home ;p

Why are you buying a laptop, build your own.... save money.... Mobile processors are pieces of crap, lower performance for higher price. And for what less heat, shove a Q6600 in there, save some money compared to the T8100...

Oh and 4GB of 667mhz memory? Come on... get a higher frequency...

Your edits are confusing, you could just write over the whole entire sentence, instead of me reading one thing and then having it changed at the end...
