Yup. Note: if you invited somebody, that person's address is automatically added to your contacts, and your address is added to that person's contacts, so it's easier to note each other.
How's the contacts system working for everybody? And is anyone in need of more invitation tickets?

Wait up a bit; I'll hook you up via PM. Yup. Note: if you invited somebody, that person's address is automatically added to your contacts, and your address is added to that person's contacts, so it's easier to note each other.

It's 3 minutes and not every minute because I don't want to kill the server, lol... Once I get the multiple domain handling right, I think I can launch an unofficial 110mb mail program =p

I sent you an invitation via PM.
Does anyone think the UI needs refreshing? What kind of interface would you like?

Neat. I'll have to play around some more.
Interface is decent (seems a little buggy, but that's beta.). I would personally prefer the search/filter fields to be next to the list they're applying to; it's hard to tell at first what they're for.

Yep. I'm working on in-place editing of records. There's an interesting jQuery plugin for that.

One idea- would it be possible to get an RSS feed of notifications, with each entry linking to the "read" page? (I assume that the email integration will work by sending a link like that.) Or was that suggested already?

That's actually one of the foundational features of the system, and there's some boilerplate code. The idea uses HTTP authentication for security.
However, email integration has been going slowly, and will be until we figure out a usable authentication technique. I think a viable integration scheme should be able to send out notifications by email, but not receive email. Client-side Markdown rendering has been implemented. This means higher responsiveness and lower bandwidth usage when viewing Markdown-formatted previews. This also opens up the possibility of a live Markdown preview while composing.

Client-side is always fun. (And I read Gruber often, so Markdown's fun too.) And yeah, I can't see any way to accept messages from the email system, beyond maybe some trusted (i.e. in contacts) addresses. Rmail seems to be based on sender accountability.
So, how far along is the protocol definition?
(Also, is notification delivery down? I sent something to myself ~10 hours ago and haven't gotten anything back. Someone I invited sent me a message, and I haven't gotten that either.)

Hm, it looks like a nonresponsive recipient stops the whole system... and there were two incorrect entries on the list. I removed them from the queue and the mail is now being delivered. Thanks for the bug report RSS is definitely in the works. For now, I should work on setting up delivery failure conditions. The protocol needs to be standardized, so that third-party implementations can be created. At the moment, the feature list is still being modified relatively frequently, so it's a bit difficult to have a solid standard. But it's in the works; some parts of the protocol have been pretty static.
