I just thought 110mb should be aware that thousands of satellite broadband users are not able to connect to any 110mb sites.

Broadband satellite transmissions are beamed back to earth then routed through gateway proxies, meaning thousands of people
all have the same IP's, for example, I can (almost) never connect to my own, or any other site without using another proxy server.

Whatever IP connection limits 110mb has in place mean that we don't even get an error page, just "unable to connect to server."
...at first I thought this was a problem with my site, but it is for any 'user' site, only the main 110mb domain is reachable.
((in fact I posted a thread HERE before I realized what the real problem was))

This isn't really a huge inconvience for me personally, (as I already know what the problem is and can easily use proxies),
but for thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of other people, they would be thinking 110mb is an extremely unreliable host.

Satellite broadband is one of the fastest growing segments of the broadband subscribers, adding thousands of users daily,
and for most of rural america it is the only broadband available, sometimes the only internet service available.

There are better ways of dealing with DOS attacks other than using IP connection limits, and I could point admin to some security
gurus if they are interested, but this problem will only get worse as more and more rural americans ditch dial-up for satellite.
Companies like HughesNet and DishNetwork are growing fast, and so are the number of users being routed through gateway proxies,
it makes sense to quickly find a solution, it won't take long before that many people unable to connect will give 110mb a bad reputation.

Cheers and Regards,

Super4u
It's been 2 days, could a moderator or administrator reply that they have read this thread or are looking in to the issue.

This effects everyone who has a 110mb website, we are all losing many potential viewers and customers of our websites.

It is also probably the cause of at least some, if not many, of the "cannot connect" complaints on this forum.

Thanks Diemux,

I am already getting tired of changing proxies, most of the fast, reliable ones are ALSO unable to connect.
Many, many people must have to use proxies to connect to 110mb...or not be able to connect at all. Insane.

Super4u, which of these can you NOT access:

http://speedsuccess.110mb.com
http://bugawuga10.110mb.com
http://bugawuga11.110mb.com
http://bugawuga13.110mb.com
http://bugawuga14.110mb.com
http://bugawuga15.110mb.com
http://bugawuga16.110mb.com
http://bugawuga17.110mb.com
http://bugawuga21.110mb.com

Then tell me your IP by going to: http://www.ip2location.com

Finally, are these "thousands of people" all on the same ISP or different ISP's?

If ISP is the same, I need to contact them. In that case provide me your ISP's website address.

Hi Andre,

bugawuga21.110mb.com ... unable to connect to server
I also cannot connect to my own site super4u.110mb

I have searched this forum for other sites on box 16 besides my own,
with all of them I get the exact same response... unable to connect to server
(Sometimes very early morning, 3am to 5am, I can connect without using a remote proxy)

My ISP is HughesNet
http://hughesnet.com
HUGHES NETWORK SYSTEMS

The current proxy gateway is 69 .19 .14 .33 ,this changes every few hours, but is always in the 69 range
if you really need my true IP address I will send it by PM, but it is completely different, in the 72 range
I am the only one using this computer, so it isn't my true IP address that is breaking the connection limit

The other people I know who have this problem are also on HughesNet or directPC
maybe I'm wrong by thinking that if others on satellite broadband have this problem
that everyone who is using satellite broadband also have this same problem.

I just followed a this line of thought...
I am unable to connect, but I can configure a remote proxy and connect (if it isn't a popular proxy)
I know other people also using satellite broadband who have the same problem
I know that all satellite connections are routed thru a few gateway proxies
and from searching this forum I know 110mb has implemented an IP connection limit...

therefore, I assume the connection limit is the problem, and that thousands have the same result.
I don't personally know thousands of people on satellite broadband who regularly surf 110mb.

Thanks for looking into this, I have already purchased the account upgrades and hope to make 110mb my home.

Hey Super4u,

As of right now, B16 has 0 IP's blocked. Literally. We don't even apply IP blocking anymore since they always change.

I know the prob. B16 (server that super4u.110mb.com is on) is in USA using iWeb.com host.

Next time it happens, please do: Start -> Run -> Type: command -> Type: tracert bugawuga21.110mb.com
Then do: ping bugawuga21.110mb.com

Then copy-paste me the results here. For both outputs.

I'll forward that to iWeb.com and tell them to fix this.

(Sorry for giving you little homework to help me out.)

so this is a box16 related issue or a global issue, it seems like it would be a global once because if I understand correctly, the satellite broadband users are establishing an connection with 110mb with the same IP, and 110mbs anti-ddos script recognizes the connections, and limits only say 100 connections every say 5 minutes from a specific ip, so all these users accessing 110mb hosted sites from the same ip would trigger the ddos script thus preventing access.

Thanks Diemux,

He probably should have mentioned that in his reply... grin

I have been able to connect to my site for several hours now,
so it is possible that my particular problem has been resolved.
(At least I hope it fixed permanently)

But I will wait for a reply from Andre before adding that to the thread title.

Help?

I'm not very technically clever, but I'm also on satellite - Hughesnet, as I live in a rural area - and I'm also unable to access my website.  It is here:
 http://spn-weaponsbox.110mb.com

I can access my file manager just fine, but all my pages come up Failure To Connect To Web Server.  What should I do?   undecided
Cheers ~

Thanks, Andre.  I hope it can be resolved.  I still can't get into my site today, either, even though I can reach file manager with no problem.   embarassed  Though since I don't know where you guys are, maybe we'll wait until after Thanksgiving.  I'll be patient.   smiley

Just got an account today w/110mb.  I'm on hughes and I can get to all the links you provided in above posts.  Firefox network set to no proxy.  Not sure if this is affecting just your sites below or if your experiencing with other sites.  See if Hughesnet tools or Browsing Optimization Utility will help.
