      Part 1. New User Guide

Most of the new user dont know what they should or would do with a a great server like 110mb. Thus, I would guide you on how to make something you would like. But everything is entirely up to you. The list follows are the list of Scripts that you might want to install. The list i made is very limited to the guide made by the other user.

Things you should know before hand

Now, all you have to do is choose one of the following php script...  But if you rather use html coded website, and need a very good template for yourself (learning process or just because you simply need one) ... i recommend going here (andre recommends this...)

      Blogging

      =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

      CMS - Content Management System
The script below is BANNED FROM 110MB.COM as it uses complex php coding thus uses more CPU process and slows down the server.

      • Mambo

      Misc. Script

note1 : if you didn't see any link provided. It basically means the FAQs/Guide/Demo are  not available yet
note2 : I wont insert any extremely simple installation guide. Installation guide should have at least enough information user need to know.
note3 : i will make the guide that people have not made yet.
note4 : for some free advertisements, you might as well PM me your URL links for demo.

Part 2. FAQs Regarding 110mb Hosting

This part covers common questions and solutions to them...

      1. My website displays warning about fopen(). Why?

      or
[Click here for another answer on this subject]

      2. How do I edit/change my .htaccess file?

      3. Error message: 421 50 users (the maximum) are already logged in, sorry. Help please!

There are 50 slots for each box.

      4. A script is asking me to edit the php.ini file!

      5. May I host a site in another language?

      6. May I host a porn site?

Yes they are totally allowed. But with exception of child porn (where you have 7-14 year old naked girls). But you also may not promote your site in the forum as there are too many underage member in this community forum.

      7. How do i add my site to google?

      Add your site in here

      8. Where is the TOS?

Its right at the lower part if the 110mb.com index page. Otherwise click here.

      9.  I have my own custom 404 error page?

      10. What are 110mb's DNS name servers?

      11. I am receiving a 404 error page. What do i need to do to fix this?

      • Did you accidentally deleted index.htm and are you trying to make some other page (with different name) as your main page?
      Quote from: Example
      Quote from: Your Files
      index.htm
      mainpage.htm
you would see your index.htm file on your browser.. in anger you deleted index.htm so you would see mainpage.htm instead. But some how lady luck wasn't on your side.. and it shows 404 error (You dont have the permission to view this page).

in this case all you have to do is rename the mainpage.htm file into index.htm
note : this is only an example. Don't refer this as equivalent when you are using a certain php script i have added above.

      • Did you uploaded the file through FTP and tried to modify it with the File Manager?
This is a known bug on 110mb File Manager. For some reason, FTP does not go well with File Manager. There are no way to fix this.
note: if you need to edit a file, do it with FTP. Download > Edit with Wordpad > Upload again.

      12. Permission (CHMOD) I dont understand what [rw-rw-r--] means..

      Quote
      u
      = user
      g
      = group
      r
      = read
      w
      = write
      x
      = execute/chdir
Basically, when people tell you to CHMOD 644 (similar to 755) it means [rw-r--]

13.I want to have more script (the same script) installed. But i only have 1 database. How do i fix this?

If you notice, every time you installed a new script there are prefixes. Just change the prefixes and you should be fine.

      Quote from: example
      phpBB have default phpbb_ prefixes
to make another phpBB forum just install with another prefixes (e.g phpbb2_

      14. How can I add extra domain / extra domain doesn't work ?

      Read: http://www.110mb.com/forum/index.php/topic,10852.0.html

If you have purchased a domain (say a .com) you have to enter it in "Extra domain" field in your 110mb control panel and enter name servers in your domain account as follows :

      Quote from: NS records:
      ns1.110mb.com
      ns2.110mb.com
      Quote from: A records:
      box4 (was box1) = 194.242.99.89
      box5 = 195.242.99.87
      box9 = 195.242.99.102

After doing this wait for 48hours till your domain becomes active. Now you can access your site from the extra domain.
[For more information please click here]

      15. What does it means by "Not a File Host.."?

This part in the TOS is important "110 is a web host. Not a file host". Here is what Andre spoke of about "Not a File Host":
      Quote from: andre
There's no limit for numbers of file uploaded. Only that the script has a formula of calculating proper content + bandwidth + space + amount of files + type of files + who's downloading those files. It uses this algorithm to determine whether an account is deleted or is ignored.

      For example:
One person consumes 0.2 GB of space for his personal pictures. But another consumes 500mb for his MP3 files. The person with 500MB MP3s account was deleted because the formula calculated apply all those factors that person with 500MB MP3s account was violation TOS as per "using account as a file host".

Basically person A has 500mb worth of pictures, and person B has 500mb worth of pictures. Depending on their site style, external links and other factors I mentioned, one of them will get deleted. While the other might not be deleted.

Which also means dont over upload a file type.. just stream a few like 10-25 should be enough and the less is better. Or use a filehost, some members were nice enough to create one filehost database.

      16. Hey, I made 3 accounts, but I don't use 2 of them! How can I delete my account?

      Take a look here: http://www.110mb.com/forum/index.php/topic,12731

      - Login to your control panel and scroll down, there you will see a button, delete my account.

      17. Assuming that I broke a rule in the TOS, do I get a warning if my account(s) is going to be deleted OR is it going to be deleted immediately, without me realizing?

Its depends on the abused you made. 110mb.com hosts uses a special script that detects abused.

When the Abuse Points (a term for you to understand this easier) reach a certain points (let say 50 or more) it would send an email to the admins and see if the abuse is really an abuse or if there is some sort of mistake. The admin then will either warned (via email) you first or even let you off if he see that you are innocent.

Added : You are *ONLY* given 25 hours to undo your abuse. If you dont, your account will be deleted.

But, if the Abuse Points reach a higher mark (let say 75 or more), the script will automatically delete the account (with out prior warning).

      18. Box11-Box15: MySQL is disabled [How to enable it?]
Go to http://www.110mb.com/upgrade-free-plan.php and choose "Turn on MySQL Support".

You can also get MySQL enabled for free if you have over 350 posts on this forum. See following link for more info: http://www.110mb.com/forum/index.php/topic,15564.0.html

CAUTION: All posts are closely monitored by Moderators and admins for spam or useless junk designed to raise your post count. So save yourself the energy from posting for sole reason of reaching the 300 post mark as quickly as possible.

Other ways is to use a 3rd party MySQL service or use a flat file database (if your script supports it).

      summary :
If you are on box 4,5,9 or 10: read the first post in this topic and then you have 2 choices:
then wait for the reply saying your MySQL request is received and activated.

If you are on box 11:

How long will it take to activate?
Roughly 10 sec for each member*.
*depends on whether andre and his thugs are online and at the same time working on with MySQL activation.

I believe a few members are thinking about using external MySQL support. Well, 110mb.com does not recommend you from using it and because of that no discussion is allowed other than PM between among yourselves. If you want to know the reasons just look at the example below.

with external MySQL host : http://selling.110mb.com/smf
      with 110mb.com MySQL : http://selling.110mb.com/smf2
note: selling.110mb.com is hosted on box11

You could conclude that the loading speed is very significant. Using 110mb.com MySQL is faster as the database is located right where the server is. While using external MySQL host will make a transfer between the external MySQL database and 110mb.com server. Hence make it slower. You could use it as a temporary database substitute until you reached 50 posts as long as it could really proves that you are making really good post instead of spamming the forum simply because you want the activation.

The other reason is that we are not sure of the external MySQL hoster capabilities to support majority of 110mb.com members in a large sum quantity. Its believed that 110mb.com already reach 200k members and if i assume that 1/3 members will started to use the external MySQL hosters, they might run into more server problems. I have research one of the hosters and i believed that they are having some bandwidth issues. Their site frequently showing "Cannot connect to server" error in FireFox.

      To sum up everything :
110mb.com DOES NOT support the members to use external MySQL host

Part 3. 110MB.com Discussion Board RULES

To make sure you all knows what you must not do in 110mb.com forum I add this part of the forum rules. Hence, the moderators could assume that you all know that what you do is wrong

      1.
Don't ever SPAM the forum. Spamming just to get more post count will eventually make us ban you!

      2.
Don't make idiot, flame, curse, insults, racial, race, rude/angered comments towards any person or group of people or a company.

      3.
Signature links that log or post information about the user viewing the forum (such as IP address, referring location and operating system of the user) are not allowed. This includes danasoft.com, ipbrowser.net, l33tsig.net signature images. Its believe that it would steal out privacy informations.

      4.
Since we have to reach 50 or 350 posts to maintain/upgrade to MySQL here people really like those enumeration topics where they can give easy 1-2-3 word replies. Well, those topics aren't allowed any more. Opening such a topic has no use, it will be deleted in a sec.

      5.
Don't write topic titles in CAPS. Really annoying. That also count for the content of the topic, no CAPS please.

      6.
      ... will be added soon

      1) See http://www.110mb.com/support/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=1&nav=0

      2) I think you will find the $0.01 is only for the first month - after taht you pay the full price. Check the fine print somewhere on Hostgator.

      12. Permission (CHMOD) I dont understand what [rw-rw-r--] means..
      Quote
      u
      = user
      g
      = group
      r
      = write
      w
      = write
      x
      = execute/chdir
Basically, when people tell you to CHMOD 644 (similar to 755) it means [rw-r--]
      isn't r = read?
