I don't think it should just be a hard line either... several lines of warning depending on offense, for example very light offense = more warnings before action

Why do you want such harsh rules?

I don't know this is possible or not, but if possible it might help.

Put note about forum ethic as discussed above right after top banner (before Subject input field) at Start new topic page,
so whenever someone wants to post a topic, they always read that note first as reminder...

Meanwhile there is another annoying fad on at the moment. People repeating perfectly good answers. So often I make an answer that explains what's going on and gives a solution, and then it gets littered with more answers that are exactly the same as mine only reworded or sometimes even less informative. Once this even happened after the person marked as resolved, straight after my answer.

So really, when looking for annoying habits, don't stray too far away from yourselves, no offence. Everyone has annoying habits, that's all I'm trying to say.

So true no ones perfect i agree with that... the person who thinks they are perfect is the most flawed human Duh

and well i think my annoying habits on this forum are the smilies sad
and in life it would be pissing off all toughs bad drivers who think they have the right of way angry like hell a lane splitting into 2 with no lines dividing except the solid white... and i see about 7/8 of the drivers dont even bother putting on their turning signal... and when they think they can go at a stop or red and see no car they think they can go yet im there right Fing in front of them angry

well we do have plenty of good moderators here that do, do a good job, but if it gets out of hand I'm sure they'll just pick a few very trustworthy members to become mods to help out

Yes, I agree that I also have flaws. I have a tendency to be a real jerk sometimes, as with everyone. It really depends on mood. Lately I've been in a bad mood.  angry

So, maybe we need a topic on 'Forum Etiquette' that we can point first time offenders to. We don't already have one, do we - I didn't search for it  grin

maybe the forum can be modified, to check it against other topics, and if it is the same for say 70% or more, it's probably about the same problem, and then they simply get redirected to another topic. would require some awesome php knowledge though..
Anyway, I offered myself as Mod in another topic, not inclining you have to do it, but if you ever are in need of extra mod power, i'm available Smiley

Hm... there's a VB mod at UbuntuForums that does that; when you start typing out your new thread, it searches the forum for similar topics and suggests that you check these out instead.

That's when I start going to all the threads and simply saying. "Search the forum. This question's been answered before plenty of times." and leave it at that.
thats what i would do aswell, i have also seen an increase in reporting problems here that should be reported somewhere else, e.g virgin isp seems to have blocked some guys site, so why doesnt he tell virgin about it?!

And now in Canada/Alaska Blue Yonder is blocking 110mb as well. Aren't they owned by Virgin? I think so...
