Website is loading very slowly

Hi, I have been with 110mb since 2006 and I’ve never had any issue with it. Great service and I am very pleased with everything so far. But recently things are getting a bit slow for me. May be my internet connection but also some of my friends are saying that my website load too damn slow. I don't know why and it used to be reasonably fast.

I noticed that ftp file upload also takes a bit long. Sometime very fast and suddenly it hangs there. Today I had to reset my internet connection 10 times while uploading files because it kept on freezing. After uploading new files, I tried to preview in the browser to see everything works and again it hangs there.

Some part of the page is always missing, saying that “1 file is loading” or “transferring data” etc on the status bar. If you leave it there without refreshing, it will stay on forever. Also every time you refresh the page, some items are not loaded.

For example, I can see image 1 and 2 but missing 3 and 4. When you refresh the page, image 2 and 3 are now on but image 1 and 4 are missing. Sometime, everything is loaded if you are lucky and it’s great. Then after you browse a few pages and go back to the home page; that page that working 100% before is now hanged and some items are missing again.

You may assume that the file size are probably big but the whole website including flash and images less than 5MB. Well, not include the music and big wallpapers of course. My index page should only have 3 MB in total (1.8MB for the slideshow, images+script+html pages = 900KB)

All the files are in window default temp directory and it should be faster when you go back to previously browsed page since all the items has been downloaded. I mean what the hell is going on. It happened in the past but it was that bad but now it’s complete nightmare. Anyone who know the answer, please help. Thanks a lot. URL is http://kkwin.110mb.com

Only the file manager is being slow for me, my site loads up really fast, oh and to make your site load up faster ditch the http://www. part just use yoursite.110mb.com and it loads really quickly. What box are you in?

He he I can see where I uploaded a ton of files I'm on box 13 and I see that from 10 to 11:30 or so there is a ton of stuff happening, probably cause of me, I think anyways

No, they're probably just hogging resources (probably the CPU), forcing the rest of the sites on Box 4/10 to be slower than normal.

Do a 'ping' or 'nslookup' on kkwin.110mb.com and compare the IP against my status monitor page.

You can't change the Box you're on.

Until recently, Box4 was the flagship - best performer - but recently it's not been quite so good.

How do you do that? Hog resources?

Well, there's plenty of ways. Sometimes CMS's (such as Joomla) hog the CPU. But most of the time it's scripts that do constant writing to MySQL (or to something else, doesn't have to be MySQL), hence slowing down the server alot, so that one account is hogging the resources.

How did you find that out that which box I am in lesley? How can I check? Is that a way to change the box? I am not sure that it is possible. Why am I the unlucky one here? Thanks.

When you login to the member's area, if you look to the left, you will see "General Server Info:" where you can find all sorts of information about the server your account is on. You can't switch boxes (unless you register a new account, which will put you on box14).

Seeing as there is an abuser on Box 4/10, I wouldn't say you're the only unlucky one here...Besides, people say that box4/10 has been degrading recently.

Well, whatever the reason - it's still going on.

I'm very disappointed that there's (apparently) nobody 'on duty' to deal with this type of problem.

I can see that last days only andre is "on duty" and no any other admin.
And all this happend at night of his timezone, It's almost 8AM (or 7?...) at his place now, but I guess he'll be active not earlier than 10AM.

And I am really worried about box4/10 in last (many) weeks - it's usually up and running, but slower and slower than few months ago. I guess this is because the oldest websites (which are on that server) are growing and growing and uses more and more resources (not mine, my websites are using less and less, unfortunatelly ). But at the moment there is some serious abuse/overuse (or failure).

Thanks a lot to all the member who replied to me. I just found out which box I am in and yes Lesley was right. I am on box 4 which is a bit suck at the moment and I also look at the statistic data on your website. It's not like I don't trust you what you said Lesley. I just want to know thing for myself to extend my knowledge. I guess I forgot some of the stuff that I learnt from uni since I am not keep in touch with those things all the time.

I also notice what internethero said. Thanks for that dude. I don't upload my files from there anymore because it never worked for me. I can't use any of the commands or functions like rename, move, delete, copy etc and nothing happen to the actual file on the server. Well, that was about a year ago. So I used to upload my files via FTP now and I found that a lot easier but the connection is very unstable and also slower than using file manger which provided by 110mb.

Well, look like we can't do anything since we are not 110mb admin people. I tried to load my home page one more time before I go to bed and it hangs there for god know how many hours, even until I finished playing all the missions on Devil May Cry 4.  Anyway, thanks again for all your replied folks. whoa looks like box 4 and 14 are having the most problems, box 14 is still active with signups (right?) so I can understand that, but according to lesley's site status it's seriously bouncing between on and off especially later on in the day.

That glitch on Box14 at ~10:00 UTC has happened on three consecutive days.

Before Box14 shrivelled up and died yesterday, there was (briefly) a forum news header saying 'Box14 backup in progress, slow for 72 hours'.

Any connection, I wonder?

Members forum search function was getting botted (hundreds of search queries a min). Screwing up box4. Resolved.
