Like Google and yahoo, is there a waiting period?
The "waiting period" is for the search engine's spiders to find your site.
I have found that the quickest way to have your site found is by having links on a popular site, such as this forum, that the spiders can find & follow.
In the past I have averaged getting a site added to Google in 24-36 hours. My record is 15 hours.
Even after your site is found by Google's spiders there is no guarantee it will be included if it falls foul of Google's Webmaster Guidelines. See
here for them.
Google's Webmaster Guidelines states states that it is a good idea to look at your site with a
Lynx browser as that is how the Googlebot sees your page(s).
