It depends on what you need; it's funny how subjective one's perception of "good" and "better" is. Try the GIMP for a change; it pimps image manipulation on Windows

I haveto agree with Inp try gimp is really is the best, with its plugin abilities if it doesn't support something you need it can easily be made to, for example there are plugins for cmyk support

not sure I know it had tons and tons of plugins of it's own all over the net
if you need cmyk support here's one I just googled but you only need that for magazines pretty much

Photoshop for mac is available. You can always use WINE  Beside, if just some simple editing, I always use Paint.NET

Well i prefer CS2, it uses alot less resources. Mind you CS4 uses alot more compared to CS3 so watch out

I use Adobe Photoshop CS2 for almost all my graphic works on websites and smaller stuff like Christmas cards.

as a manipulator i believe that photoshop is the best but definately not the easiest to use. for simple image adjusting like resizing, rotation, brightness and stuff like that i use acdsee pro 2 http://www.acdsee.com/
