What's your opinion on 110MB being sold? Not here to debate but just a poll on seeing that others thing without commenting Coming from users shoes: Use what you got as long as it serves your intentions. If system changes in conflict to your intentions - move to another system. Cycle repeats.
Coming from business viewpoint: Make a bigger profit then yesterday - even if new actions sacrifices % of it's users.
Here's where this is going:
Speaking to few investors interested in funding 110mb with intention of us taking it to #1 past webs.com. (Webs.com: site that has only basic HTML support, has ADS on user sites. Yet it's #1 and one of the fastest growing companies both userbase and income wise - in the world. And has +-$15 million in venture funding).
110mb's current income monatization is 1/10 mainly due to no-ads on user sites.
Meaning it won't get venture funding or reach #1 unless it follow webs.com model exactly. Obviously offered features still stay same.
So there you go folks: The homepages "we'll never place ads on user sites" is going to change per investors demands. Else we aint going nowhere in terms of growth, getting venture capital for explosive growth, or being a real company.
*All upcoming changes won't affect users who got 2 or more paid upgrades. Still haven't done anything to implement this. Guessing: this change should occur sometime end of 2009.

My opinion is we discussed opinions at a previous time which ultimately lead to Andre saying that nothing is going to change, instead things are going to be given away free again such as MySQL depending on if the sale actually happens.
Stop brining up the sale it's not going to happen until a few months from now.

I kinda have to agree, not much point here but feel free to discuss it if you wish....... here's the my thoughts on it however...... I don't really care one way or the other too much as far as the hosting itself goes, I'm here for the community, I host on a paid server, and even without that I'd prob be elsewhere anyhow (no insults intended, 110mb's just not the best free host anymore). A lot of us had voiced what we felt would of been better alternatives (I still think they could of offered paid hosting), others just disagreed vehemently, others backed 110mb up.... But Andre made it clear whats going to happen and that discussion was kinda pointless, and stated that he'd still be the one making decisions here, which I think comforted a lot of people, if you wanna read what was said at the time anyhow, just go here http://www.110mb.com/forum/prewarning-doing-trial-adsonsite-campaign-soon-for-testing-reasons-t45957.0.html

I agree.
It's called business... Little companies/entities get bought up by big companies and so on and so forth. Like I said, it's how the business world operates. To all those that don't like it, get used to it! Or go crawl into a little hole, repeat to yourself: "THE WORLD OF BUSINESS DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT", and keep yourself concealed from the real world.

'I'll just do whatever', If I can keep my site here then great, if not I will find another host. If the community lives on, then I'll continue to hang around; but if it doesn't, then I'll have nothing else to do but leave. Although if the 110mb forums end up dying, someone will just set up new forums for us to hang out, right? Or we can all go to 110mb center - or something --

He sticks the blade in my mouth... "Let's put a smile on that face!"

We could all go on inportb's blog comments lol...... Well it would be fairly dumb for someone to do that. It probably won't happen. As andre has said, they will still be here and what not, just a different parent company. Either way, nowadays it isn't bright for a host (let alone a free host) to not have a community. When a host offers services for free (like 110MB) it would cost a lot more than it is worth to pay someone to answer the tickets of thousands of users when they could let others do it for them... XD

XD Can't you recognize humor , though he does have a very cool blog, but at any rate if it did come to that, I've been around since the old days of msn chat, and trying to preserve communities like that is typically a waste of time, easier just to go join in somewhere else.... Personally though as i said it doesn't matter that much in any case, it' really isn't that big of a deal, either worst happens people find a new home, or people stay... but let's face it the only company that would be interested is someone interested in doing free hosting, who knows they might even offer decent paid hosting, as well. I use the big daddy of hosting for paid, and as far as community goes there, forget about it they only have a video blog by the owner and his girls.... which is a shame.......

When it was first announced that 110MB would be sold, I was concerned, as many people were. But now that we know it's going to have the same admins (not some other random people that don't care about their customers), I'm OK with it.

I have a great account with multiple updates, so I'm good, not to mention I have professional hosting on my own server, so I'm good.

You know, I knew this was going to happen sooner or later, but I'm still surprised so many people would choose hosting that has ads.

Idea : Let users place their own Adsense ads with their own code and force them to share % of revenue with 110mb (using the Adsense revenue share thingy)
or somewhat better : place forced ads on user sites (maybe let them choose position using a php include or something ) and let 110mb share its revenue with users.. That'll make it the first hosting site which pays users to host with it ! -- Paid Hosting revolutionized .

So there you go: number one reason that I did choose this hosting will dissapear. Of course for every member like me there will be a replacement in the number of 100 "newbies" that don't care for forced ads. So yes, from business point of view it's great. Said for me as I don't like business point of view at all - maybe that's why I'm no-one in the matter of earnings (in real life, not only in the web). (...) and keep yourself concealed from the real world.
I do. I KNOW that the todays world works in this way, but I'm trying to be out of it. Not so happy with that, though.
