There's a lot of people who pirate only for themselves, and they wouldn't of normally bought it otherwise. for example they bought a super beautiful gaming computer with xp. They pirate vista for it...... though if they hadn't pirated they probably would of just waited for their next machine for when they have to upgrade so to speak....

That's what most piracy entails, it hardly hurts Microsoft, to the contrary they're still advertising for Microsoft by using it, for example their friends see's the shiny new Desktop and may go buy it and so on....

And as for Microsoft's claim they're doing it selfishly to help the economy that's a pile of smelly stuff....

lol erm did this topic come from this one or something?

http://www.110mb.com/forum/getting-software-for-free-kinda-funny-t39136.0.html

any case MS does not get hurt from some couple thousand people torrenting or other means of illegal ways of getting to software Wink but as stated in the post above they can not copyright keys so if windows accepts a fake key and you still register it to them and they still accept it (would not advise doing so with Vista as they have the back door key with out you wishing so -.- and here they say they respect our privacy... yet they steal it away from us angry), it is their loss as you legally downloaded the software (wait ummm is vista able to be downloaded from MS?)... that is what basically happened to Office Pro... on my computer...

Besides i think MS Pro 07 is the only version of MS product which my family has not bought... and we have had Windows since 3.1 we had 98/98SE XP and a few now have Vista... (we still have working computers for all OS's too Cheesy

Backdoors are yummy. There are a bunch of people with unsecured Windows boxes on my campus subnet; I occasionally leave them messages about how to lock down their machines evil

There are some users who got fooled and bought pirated copies without knowledge of it. This fits the 'protection' part.

Lol, and about the usb keys:
Investigator: Ok, I got my MS USB stick. This should be easy.

*Boots up, displays Ubuntu, prompts for password*

Investigator: WTF? What windows is this?
